The Demonic Spirit of Pan

Date Posted: September 23, 2008

Lately, I have encountered and experienced the demonic spirit of Pan. I felt it important to write this article so people who have encountered the same type of experience from the enemy would receive understanding and no longer be ignorant of one of Satan’s devices. I believe when we get understanding, it sets us free from the bondage of the kingdom of darkness. When real truth is spoken it always has the attitude of setting us free. I have encountered several people throughout my life, who think they have something wrong with them, only to find out it was the enemy all along sending his lying tactics to their mind. When they receive true understanding it sets them completely free and into the joy of enjoying life again.

About six years ago I had a visitation of what I would call a creature from the ancient world of darkness. I was living in a cabin tucked away in the mountains of the Carolinas. In the middle of the night I woke and went into our restroom. I suddenly heard our cabin door open and the sound of two animal hooves began walking across our hardwood floors toward the bathroom. I looked and there stood a demonic beast that looked like a goat from the waist down with two legs and his upper half was in the shape of a man with two horns coming out of his head. Immediately I felt fear and panic mixed with pride coming from the creature. I knew this visitation was not from the Lord. However, somehow I knew that the Lord had allowed it to happen for my good. Romans 8:28 says we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. I asked the Spirit, “Who is this creature?” I then heard the name “Pan”. I had never heard that name before, but later I would search out the word and get understanding of this demonic spirit. Pan then spoke to me with a prideful, arrogant attitude, mixed with great hate. He said, “ I am going to do everything I can to take you out.” I then said, “You must leave now.” With a hateful groan, he turned around and left the cabin.

The Nature of Pan

After this encounter I did some study on this creature. I found out that he was a Greek mythology god. Many gods, demonic spirits, or beasts that have been called mythological gods are not mythology at all. They are real in the kingdom of darkness. Pan is a god of flocks and herds, typically represented with the horns, ears, and legs of a goat on a man's body. His sudden appearance was supposed to cause terror similar to a stampeding herd, and the word panic is derived from his name. Even today he is roaming to and fro devouring people with fear and panic. This spirit is responsible for deaths, heart attacks, hospitalizations, often resulting in people taking prescription drugs. One of the ancient practices to worship Pan was to have sexual immoral parties to him. Perversion is commonly released from this spirit as well. Giving into this spirit creates a bondage that spirals into shame, torment, and feelings of insanity. I believe the Lord wants to put an end to this spirit’s authority on the earth by waking people up to their true authority and identity, showing them we have authority on the earth and in the heavens because of what Jesus has done for us through the cross. Through the cross He disarmed principalities and powers and made them a public spectacle. (Colossians 2:15) Jesus then said that He gave us authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy. (Luke 10:19) The Lord wants His people to bring this spirit down through the authority that Jesus has given us. However, if we keep allowing these demonic attacks of the enemy to keep pushing us back in our minds, we will delay the awakening of who we really are and never enter in to our full potential in Christ. It is time to awaken! Romans 13:11-14 says, Now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts. Paul also says in Eph. 6:12-13 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints. (Ephesians 6:12-13)

Basically, Paul is telling us we have the authority. We are now, not will be, but now, a warrior with authority on the earth and in the heavens. Even when we were dead in trespasses, Jesus made us alive together with Christ, and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus. (Ephesians 2:5-6) God wants us to rid the rest of the earth of demonic activity, by casting them out of our realm here on the earth and into that place prepared for them.

Why Man Gets Attacked?

One reasons Christians and non – Christians get hit so hard by the enemy is because from the beginning God made man in His image. We are the only creation in the heavens and earth that was made to look and be like Him. Since the beginning the enemy has been very jealous of mankind because we are the ones that received the blessing. That blessing is to be like God on the earth as He is in heaven. You can see the pictures of this jealousy through out the whole Bible. From Cain and Abel, Joseph and his brothers, Samson and the Philistines, Elijah and Jezebel, David with Saul, and Jesus with his own people.
